About Margot Robbie

Margot Robbie was born in Dalby, Queensland, on July 2th, 1990.

Her mother is Sariah Robbie, and her father is Doug Robbie.

She has both Irish/Northern Irish and British ancestry with a Scottish paternal grandfather from Edinburgh who migrated to Australia. He met Margot’s grandmother Elizabeth McQueen while she was visiting Ireland.

The family moved back to Scotland when Margot was four years old. Still, they eventually settled in Gold Coast, Queensland, again before moving to Brisbane so that Margaret could attend the Australian Theatre for Young People.

Growing up as an only child led Margot into becoming more of a tomboy than anything else; some of her favorite memories are playing sports with boys at school and getting into fights with them to defend her little sister.

She also enjoyed playing football, cricket, and running around on the beach as a child, which led to her entering many athletic competitions, including swimming at an international level until she was 13 years old.

Margot trained in Tae Kwon Do for eight years starting from age six and still has it alongside boxing, jujitsu, kickboxing & Brazilian jiu-jitsu as one of her primary forms of physical exercise today since she is adamant about working out every day because “you have to sweat.” She says that this came naturally due to being raised by parents who were big fans of martial arts films.
