She began modeling at age 16. She attended Richmond upon Thames College without finishing a degree.
In 2005 she won two awards at Cannes Film Festival – Prix de Jeunesse Award for Best Performance by a Young Actress Under 25 Years Old and International Federation of Film Critics-FIPRESCI Prize for Discovery Of The Year.
Now she’s a spokesperson for L’Oreal and also doing a campaign for Gap.
She was awarded the “Style Icon” award at the 2005 British Fashion Awards and she is ranked in 2007 as #29 on Forbes magazine’s list of the 100 most powerful celebrities.
Keira Knightley has a younger sister, Savannah, born 1989, who also modelled.
Andrew Cooper helped her to get into modelling; she signed with Storm Model Management after being spotted by Sarah Doukas herself when she accompanied her mother to London for an audition that had been scheduled months in advance. Keira got pregnant aged 18 but miscarried during filming Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011).
