About Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Her mother is a school teacher at the Allen High School for Girls, and her father is a pharmacist. She has three siblings: two brothers and one sister.

An actress since age six, Seyfried made her screen debut as Cosette in Les Misérables (1998). In 2004 she was cast as Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia!, which won her widespread recognition on stage and film. She continued to play this part through 2008. It became clear that Hollywood filmmakers were interested in casting Seyfried as Bella Swan’s best friend Jessica Stanley while Kristen Stewart plays Bella Swan herself. In 2011 she played Linda Lovelace again opposite Sharon Stone, with whom she costarred earlier in the film The Last Mistress (2008).

Now Amanda Seyfried is nominated for a Golden Globe Award; Seyfried’s performance in Les Misérables earned her the London Film Critics Circle award.

She is also known for her role as Lux Lisbon on The C.W. television series Riverdale (2017).
