Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia (born September 9, 1967), professionally known as Akshay Kumar, is an Indian-born citizen of Canada working in the commercial Hindi film industry principally based in Mumbai.
Kumar has been in over 100 movies. He also won the National Film Award for Best Actor and two Filmfare Awards. Kumar is one of the most successful actors in Hindi cinema. He starred in 52 commercially successful movies, and he was the first actor who had their films’ domestic net lifetime collections over $280 million (₹20 billion) by 2013 and $420 million (₹30 billion) by 2016.
Kumar began his career in 1991 with Saugandh, but he became famous in 1992 with the movie Khiladi. This is a type of movie where there is action. He acted more and more movies like this, and people started calling these movies the “Khiladi” series.
In 1994, Akshay Kumar had a role in Yeh Dillagi. In the next decade, he worked on different types of films. He gained recognition for his roles in romantic films like Dhadkan (2000), Andaaz (2003), and Namastey London (2007). He also did dramas such as Waqt (2005) and Patiala House (2011). His comic performances were well-liked in films like Hera Pheri (2000), Mujhse Shaadi Karogi (2004), Bhool Bhulaiyaa(2007), and Singh Is Kinng(2008).
